Advanced technical sound and vibration consulting with custom proposals to address your specific needs

Our Services
-
Do you need help setting up your own measurement systems? Do you need advanced measurement capabilities that complement your own? We can help with advice and advanced measurements to address your specific needs. This includes sound level meter measurements to assess sound levels for product and environmental noise, vibration measurements on products or in the environment, and binaural recordings for subjective analysis and Sound Quality evaluations. We also offer advanced acoustic & vibration measurements on products, including (concurrent) sound pressure, vibration levels and binaural recordings, and order tracking for fans, machines or engines.

Do have you have measured signals that need to be analyzed? Do you need advanced analysis capabilities? We offer a variety of analysis options. For sound level meter measurements, analysis includes for example overall sound pressure levels, weighted levels, 1/3 octave band spectra, equivalent continuous levels and percentiles. For general acoustic and vibration analysis, it includes overall levels, weighted levels, 1/3 octave band spectra, FFT spectra (versus time) and psycho-acoustic metrics. Finally, the advanced analysis options include order tracking and multi channel sound and vibration correlations to analyze and root cause complicated acoustic and vibration issues.

Do you design products but need advice on how to best design with specific acoustic and vibration goals in mind? While we do not offer for example CAD product design services, we can help guide the design or modification of products based on acoustic or vibration considerations. Our technical experience in for example fan and machinery noise and vibration issues can be a valuable input. The earlier in the design process these considerations are addressed, the better. This helps avoid costly redesigns after the fact and can provide significant cost savings and time to market benefits.

Not only does the overall sound level matter, but also what it sounds like. Metrics like sound pressure levels are standardized and help inform consumers, but they do not tell the whole story. What the product sounds like also matters for the (perceived) performance. Strange or unusual sounds, while low in level and not impacting the actual performance, may lead to distractions, questions and complaints. On the other hand, a pleasant sound can correlate to brand image. Sound Quality studies and metrics allow to compare the actual perception by consumers.

Do you want to set up a new acoustics and vibration lab? Do you want to start making standardized measurements? Do you want to create standardized measurements and operating conditions for your products because a specific test code does not exist? We can help with these questions. We can advise and help guide establishing a new lab, including measurement equipment, data acquisition and data processing. We can help implement existing standard measurement procedures in your lab, or help define new standards and measurement procedures.
-
Are you a making a new product and need feedback on its sound emission and sound quality? Are you a provider of numerical simulation tools and want feedback on its usability and functionality? Are you an acoustic measurement equipment provider and want input on its use and performance? We can provide independent, expert evaluations to help improve your offerings.
-
Do you want to know more about the theory of sound and vibration, sound quality, analysis methods or measurement standards? Do you want to expand the knowledge base of your engineering and technician teams? We offer customized training for your topics of interest. These training sessions can be held in person on site, or via remote video teleconference. It can also include practical, hands on sessions in the test labs.
